We officially start practice Monday at 3pm. This means that you need to be dressed and ready to begin right at 3.
There are a number of girls that do not have all of the paperwork needed to be able to practice. Below is a list of what you need
Updated physical
Concussion form (if you played a fall sports you don't need another one of these)
Code of Conduct (if you played a fall sports you don't need another one of these)
Emergency form (you need a new one for each sports so if you played in the fall you still need one)
I believe all of these require a parent signature so please do this immediately. Don't wait until the last second
See you Monday...Go Huskies!!!!

The season is less than 2 months away and we'll be great before you know it. We have started open gyms twice a week and will continue with this. Please make sure you have an updated physical on file with the school. Conditioning will start towards the end of October. Lastly, spread the word to anyone who might be interested in playing this year.

Team Banquet
We will have our end of the season banquet on Saturday March 9 at 4pm. It will be held at Meredith Middle School in the cafeteria. All parents, players and siblings are welcome to attend. Food will be catered by Fazolis. The cost is $8 per person. Please turn all money in to Mikayla's mom by 3/7/13.
Mikayla's mom will be sending out a text/email to get a head count for this because food will be catered in and we want to make sure that we order enough food. This is for all levels so we hope that all of our girls can attend.
There will also be important information regarding our summer schedule given at the end of the banquet.

Post-season time!!!
With our regular season complete we begin our road to the state tournament tonight! We host Newton in the first round of our substate @ 7pm. Please come out and support our team. A victory tonight would have a traveling to Grimes to play Dallas-Center on Saturday evening. It will take a 3 game winning streak to get us to state. This is a real possibility for us and a journey I am thrilled to be taking with this group of wonderful young ladies! Go HUSKIES!!

Mediacom game
Tonight we face Roosevelt @ home. This is probably our biggest rivalry and a very important game towards our conference standing as well as substate seeding. Mediacom will be there covering the game also. Please come support our girls and boys teams. You might want to get there early because it's probably going to be a pretty full house. If you're unable to be at the game I believe it will be on MC22 tomorrow(Saturday, Jan 12) at 7:30 if i read the listing correctly. Go HUSKIES!!!

A look forward
On Saturday January 12, 19, and 26 from 9-10 am we will be having our saturday open gym time for girls in grades 3-8 to come shoot around and play games with our team. This is a great opportunity for us to interact with young girls in the area and just have a little fun. This is completely free of charge so if you know any girls in these grades get the word out. Thanks
Hoover Summer Basketball Camp
We have the dates set for our basketball camp this summer. The camp will be Monday-Thursday, June 10-13. More information will be available after Spring Break, but this is something that we expect all of our basketball girls to help with unless they simply are unable to help.
Lastly, we will be looking to get into some team camps this summer as well as having a strength coach come in a couple times a week to improve our overall team strength. There are still many details that need to be finalized before either of these become a reality, but they are both things we would extremely like to do and will make effort to make it happen

A little encouragement!
A little note from the Mrs.:
I am so excited for this season and to come and support you ladies on the court! Nevaeh is also very excited to get to the first game she can.... and of course to eat popcorn. She says, "have fun!". Good luck and see you tomorrow night!

Nice job!
Today our lady Huskies took their first competitive step of the 2012-13 season. We defeated Marshalltown 25-23 in the Jamboree. We looked like a cohesive unit on the floor. Passing and defending as a team and looking confident in all aspects of the game. I'm proud of this first step of a long and hopeful season. Nice job ladies, and thanks to all those who came to support our team!

JAMBOREE this weekend.
The annual Jamboree is this Saturdy, 11/17. We play at 2:40 against Marshalltown. We will be in our black uniforms. This year the Jamboree is held at VALLEY high school. The game is 30 minutes long. Our girls will need to be at valley at 1 pm so that we have enough time for pictures.
This year, they have added a 3pt contest after the game. Each team picks their top 3 pt shooter who will have 60 seconds to make as many 3's as possible. May Duncan will be representing us this year for the event. Hope to see everything there cheering us our husky team.

Almost here
The season is right around the corner so I wanted to remind you of a few important things:
1. Conditioning starts next monday (10/22) and will go for 2 weeks. It will be from 3-4 every week day.
2. If you do not have a current physical you need to get that taken care of. You CANNOT practice/play without an updated physical.
3. Player/Parent meeting will be held Tuesday night 10/30 at 6pm. This is a mandatory meeting. We will go many things including paperwork for the season.
4. We've updated the schedule portion of this blog so that it is complete with newly added games. It also includes our transportation schedule for the season so you know in advance when buses leave and expected return times.
5.If you have not done so yet, please sign up on this blog for email updates when we update the blog. This will be a tool that we will use throughout the season.
