Nice job!

Today our lady Huskies took their first competitive step of the 2012-13 season.  We defeated Marshalltown 25-23 in the Jamboree.  We looked like a cohesive unit on the floor.  Passing and defending as a team and looking confident in all aspects of the game.  I'm proud of this first step of a long and hopeful season.  Nice job ladies, and thanks to all those who came to support our team!

JAMBOREE this weekend.

The annual Jamboree is this Saturdy, 11/17.  We play at 2:40 against Marshalltown.  We will be in our black uniforms.  This year the Jamboree is held at VALLEY high school. The game is 30 minutes long.  Our girls will need to be at valley at 1 pm so that we have enough time for pictures. 

This year, they have added a 3pt contest after the game.  Each team picks their top 3 pt shooter who will have 60 seconds to make as many 3's as possible.  May Duncan will be representing us this year for the event. Hope to see everything there cheering us our husky team.

Schedule Correction

The Dowling game on Saturday, December 1 is listed on the schedule as a home game.  This game is an AWAY game and will be played @ Dowling

Almost here

The season is right around the corner so I wanted to remind you of a few important things:
1. Conditioning starts next monday (10/22) and will go for 2 weeks.  It will be from 3-4 every week day.
2. If you do not have a current physical you need to get that taken care of.  You CANNOT practice/play    without an updated physical.
3. Player/Parent meeting will be held Tuesday night 10/30 at 6pm.  This is a mandatory meeting.  We will go many things including paperwork for the season.
4. We've updated the schedule portion of this blog so that it is complete with newly added games.  It also includes our transportation schedule for the season so you know in advance when buses leave and expected return times.
5.If you have not done so yet, please sign up on this blog for email updates when we update the blog.  This will be a tool that we will use throughout the season.

Full Schedule

We have just filled our schedule for the season.  We will be playing Norwalk at home Dec. 18.  This will be a F/Jv/Varsity triple hearder. 

Additional Game

We have just added a new game to our schedule this year.  We will be playing Oskaloosa on November 30 at Oskaloosa.  This will be a good opportunity to play a school that will be a 4A school and a possible opponent when substate comes around.  As of right now it still appears as though we will be in class 4A.  We are still short one game, but i'm still working to find us one more game.

Open Gyms this fall

Open gym will start this Sunday at 3pm.  We will have another one on Monday at 6pm.  We will meet every Monday at 6pm and every Sunday, but the time on Sunday may vary so we will let you know each week via text.

Travel Gear

We will be placing our order for the new travel gear in about 2 weeks.  We are going with the gray adidas gear.  If you would like to order one for yourself (separately from our order) then you need to let me (coach K) know ASAP so that i know how many to order.  You can either text me or email me.  Please let me know what size you want and what you want on the back for the personalization.  If you choose to order your own it will cost $100.  You may personalize it with your name, whatever you choose, on the back.

You do not have to order one if you don't want one to keep.  We will not place another order for these in the future so this will be your only chance to get one.  You do not have to be a varsity player to order one for yourself.

Chain Gang

One of our yearly fundraisers is working the chain gang during freshmen and sophomore home football games.  We need 4 girls for each of these games and Coach Brown and Coach Pete will be there to help as well.  Usually we only have one of these games a week.  They will usually be either a sophomore game on thursday or a freshmen game on friday before the varsity game.  This week there is a freshmen/sophomore double header on thursday at 4:45 & 7:30.  The text I sent out was incorrect on the second game time.  Please help out with this and if possible let's not have the same girls do it every week.  Contact coach Karaidos or coach Brown if you are available.  Thanks

TEAM COOKOUT!!!

We will be having a team cookout at my (Coach Karaidos) house on Sunday, August 26 @ 5pm.  This is for any of the players/parents of our high school teams.  If you have been involved with our summer workouts/feeder team, but will be in middle school this year you are welcome also.  This will be an opportunity to meet some of the new additions to our staff and discuss our travel gear (we will be getting new gear this year). 

I will be providing hot dogs, buns, and drinks (lemonade & water).  If you are attending please bring a side dish.  Please RSVP by commenting on this post so everyone will have an idea of how many people will be attending.  So i do not have to put my address on this site please email/text/call me for my address and directions.  We look forward to seeing as many of you as can attend.
